Aloha and Happy Whale Watching Season! 😉

If you’re visiting Oʻahu in March 2026, Sea Life Park is stacking the month with the kind of moments travelers hope for: land-based whale watching, seasonal activities, and a memorable evening at the
Aloha Kai Lūʻau in a stunning oceanfront setting.

And if you’re building your trip around Swimming with Dolphins Oahu or searching for swimming with Dolphins near Waikiki Beach, this day-to-night combo helps your itinerary feel
intentional instead of scrambled.

March is peak “look out at the ocean and gasp” season

During whale watching season, Sea Life Park has added land-based whale watching dates, plus guest speakers, games, activities, and whale-inspired exhibits and displays throughout the park.
In a recent update from Sea Life Park’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Erica A. Neves shared a milestone that captures how active this season has been.

“To date, our guests and educational team have sighted 623 whales offshore from the park.”

— Erica A. Neves, Director of Sales & Marketing

The humpback whales’ migratory path runs along the Kaiwi Channel, where breaches and blows have been sighted between Manana Island (Rabbit Island) and the Makapuʻu Lighthouse.
Translation: if you want that “we saw it with our own eyes” whale moment, this is one of the best shore-view areas on Oʻahu to watch the horizon.

The smart traveler move: pair the park with the lūʻau on the same day

Many visitors accidentally overcomplicate Oʻahu by splitting experiences across too many days and burning time in transit. A cleaner plan is:

  • Daytime: Sea Life Park (arrive early so you’re not rushed).
  • Late afternoon + night: Aloha Kai Lūʻau at the park.

The Aloha Kai Lūʻau is hosted at Sea Life Park with ocean views, and it runs on a predictable evening flow (check-in typically begins around 4:30 PM with lūʻau grounds opening around 5:00 PM).

Aloha Kai Lūʻau operating days (with added March Fridays)

Here’s the planning-friendly version: Aloha Kai Lūʻau is currently open on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through March 13. For Spring Break travel, two Fridays are also available in March: March 20 and March 27.

Operating plans are to continue with a 4-days/week schedule after Spring Break, returning to four days as of April 1. There are also select Friday exceptions later in the year, including Friday, June 12 and Friday, December 25.

A lūʻau perk that actually changes your plans: park admission included

One of the best values is that every Aloha Kai Lūʻau guest receives complimentary admission to Sea Life Park. That means you can structure your park visit and your dolphin plans without feeling like you’re paying twice for the same location. This is especially helpful if Swimming with Dolphins Oahu is your headline activity.

What the Aloha Kai Lūʻau feels like

Aloha Kai isn’t a tiny hotel show squeezed into a ballroom. It’s a full outdoor evening experience featuring scenic oceanfront views, cultural activities before dinner, a buffet-style Hawaiian meal, and a Polynesian show that typically builds to a fire finale.

Greens & Salads

  • Tossed greens (Asian or ranch dressing)
  • Fresh pineapple
  • Traditional poi
  • Lomi lomi salmon
  • Seasonal salad

Starches

  • Sweet rolls
  • Sweet potatoes
  • White rice

Practical tip: do one “local plate” pass (poi + lomi lomi salmon + whichever proteins call your name), then circle back for the comfort favorites. Mixed groups are happier when everyone finds something they love.

One March 2026 family deal to circle: Keiki Sunday

Sea Life Park is also running a family-friendly promotion on Sunday, March 22 (Keiki Sunday): guests can bring (1) Child ages 4–12 FREE with each adult ticket purchase. Children 3 and under are always FREE. You must call us to get this promotion (800) 667-5524.

Staying in Waikiki? Here’s how to fit it in smoothly

If you’re staying near Waikiki, it’s still easy to plan an East Oʻahu day that doesn’t feel exhausting. For travelers searching swimming with Dolphins near Waikiki Beach, the real goal is doing dolphins without wasting an entire day.

  • Morning departure from Waikiki
  • Sea Life Park midday + whale watching windows
  • a Dolphin Program in Oahu Sea Life Park
  • Aloha Kai Lūʻau at night
  • Return to Waikiki with a full “we did Oʻahu” day
